I am currently developing a new course and my mind has been drawn to a lot of principles that never seem to change over time. The 'buzz-words' and packaging are different but the central themes are the same. One message that seems especially relevant, in todays troubled time, is the need for personal development specifically when it comes to coping with change.
Personal development is about closing the gap between where we are and were we want to be. Within this three issues are crucial; firstly we need to be honest about who we are and where we find ourselves today. Secondly we need a clear vision of the future we want for ourselves and finally we need to accept that we almost always need the help of others if we are to sustain any changes we make. It should come as no surprise that I think the best 'help' comes from a suitably qualified and experienced coach. BUT close family, friends and confidants, can be valuable because, chosen wisely, they can give you a different perspective of yourself as an individual. Think of it in terms of a magazine 'pop-quiz' the sort of thing that tells us if are young at heart or old and grumpy. Our answers to the questions will deliver one result. Now think about what would happen if someone else answered the questions based on their view of us. The results would almost certainly be different. A realistic view of who we are and what we want are central to our future success and happiness. Good Luck & Stay Safe Coach Walsh. Comments are closed.
