- Identify the PR channels that suit your approach.
- Identify your 'community' those that you want to get your message to.
- Create a short 'Company Story'. Your story should; (A) Start with a brief history. (B) State, who you are, what you do, why you do it, where you do it and when you do it. (C) Finish with any promises and guarantees, you offer, that support your activities.
- Expand on your Company Story giving details, especially regarding the guarantees and promises that you make.
- Create an integrated PR strategy and make sure everyone in your organisation supports the approach and uses it whenever they find themselves in contact with the public.
- Blend traditional (press release) with cyberspace (social networking).
- Look for opportunities to support your 'community' that are stand-alone and not related to any commercial activities.
- Create a 'good-boy' file and communicate it to everyone in your network
- Constantly review how well you are communicating and to what extent your communication is improving your reputation in your community.
NOTE: Whilst PR can be used to highlight products and services it is not it's main purpose. Avoid turning every communication into a sales pitch.
